General Information

One in eight people in Michigan have kidney disease. It affects people of all ages and races. People with diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of kidney failure face a greater risk of developing kidney disease. In Michigan, currently 12,095 people have reached stage five and require dialysis or transplantation as the only hope of survival. Our Network of Renal Care brings this vital service to patients throughout Michigan.

Gratiot Medical Center, an affiliate of MidMichigan Health, has been providing services for over 40 years with ten facilities located in Alma, Alpena, Bay City, Cass City, Gaylord, Gladwin, Greenville, Midland, Mt. Pleasant and West Branch. Our team consists of six nephrologists who are experts in dialysis and more than 180 experienced dialysis staff. For people suffering from chronic kidney disease, dialysis acts as an artificial kidney in which the blood is circulated outside the body through a filter where toxins are removed before returning to the patient.
